At Cadbury, as part of Mondelēz International, we know every bar of chocolate begins long before it reaches your hands. It starts with cocoa, and the people and communities who grow it.

That's why securing a resilient, long-term supply of cocoa is so important to us. Through Cocoa Life, our cocoa sourcing programme, we're working with farming communities to help build a more sustainable future for cocoa.

For more than a decade, Cocoa Life has taken an integrated approach that supports cocoa farming communities while promoting responsible cocoa sourcing. Together with farmers, local communities and partners, we're focused on farming practices, community development and helping improve farmer livelihoods.

Today, 100% of the cocoa we source for our chocolate business comes through the Cocoa Life programme.* Working alongside our programme partners and farming communities, we're helping support the future of cocoa for generations to come.

Supporting cocoa farming means looking at the bigger picture. That's why we focus on three key areas that help address some of the biggest challenges facing cocoa-growing communities.

Helping cocoa farming businesses thrive

We're working with NGOs, suppliers, governments and local partners to help farming households build stronger, more resilient businesses and increase opportunities to earn a living income.

In 2025, Cocoa Life included more than 2,700 active communities and 257,000 registered farmers across Brazil, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia and Nigeria.

Supporting thriving communities

Strong communities help create a stronger future for cocoa.

We're helping strengthen child protection systems, improve access to quality education and support community-led programmes. Through our Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS), we're working to identify children at risk of child labour so families can receive appropriate support and follow-up.

By the end of 2025, CLMRS had been expanded to reach 100% of Cocoa Life communities in West Africa, including Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria. During this period, more than 337,000 interviews were carried out across Cocoa Life communities.

Helping protect forests

Healthy forests are essential to the future of cocoa.

We're supporting registered farmers with tree planting, agroforestry techniques, farm mapping technologies and other sustainable farming practices that help protect and restore forests while reducing the risk of deforestation.

In 2025, more than 304,000 Cocoa Life farms were mapped and monitored across Brazil, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia and Nigeria.

More than a decade of Cocoa Life has shown us that creating lasting change takes time and happens best when people work together.

As we continue to navigate changing market conditions and cocoa price volatility, we're committed to working alongside governments, partners and farming communities to help strengthen farmer livelihoods.

We also believe collaboration reaches further than any one organisation. That's why we continue to encourage ambitious partnerships that put farming communities first and help embed responsible cocoa sourcing throughout the cocoa sector.

Today, Cocoa Life supports cocoa-growing communities across Brazil, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia and Nigeria.

Farmers who take part in Cocoa Life remain independent and are not employed by Mondelēz International or any affiliated company. They are also free to supply cocoa to other buyers.

Many of our Cadbury chocolate brands are part of Cocoa Life.
