The Cadbury Foundation

Looking out for our people and local communities since 1935

Values that are good for everyone

The seeds of the Cadbury Foundation were planted back in 1935, when the Cadbury family formed ‘The Charitable Brothers Trust’. It was founded in memory of Cadbury brothers, George and Richard, with a mission to continue the work they started.

The brothers had a vision to create a healthier, happier environment for their workers - away from the city slums. They built houses for their families, on green, open land. And gave them the chance to improve their education and skills. They wanted their local communities to be welcoming and involving. Where everyone could take advantage of a better way of life.

Inspired by Richard & George Cadbury to this day

That’s why, wherever you find any of our factories or offices throughout the UK and Ireland, you’ll find us out and about in the community. We’re getting involved in activities to support people’s health and wellbeing. We’re encouraging the next generation of talented young people to develop their skills so they can make the most of their career opportunities.

See how much the Cadbury Foundation has grown

From the small acorn that began as The Charitable Trust to today’s foundation, a little bit of Cadbury goodness has gone a long way over the years.

We make it our business to get involved in the community

Right from the very beginning, George, Richard and the Cadbury family have been interested in projects which could make the lives of their workers and communities better. Starting from the first donation of £40, given to the Stirchley Girls Club, the Cadbury Foundation has grown that figure to £10 million, helping hundreds of local causes over the last 15 years.

Sharing a spirit of generosity within our communities is just as important to us as it’s ever been. And for us, that means donating our pounds, pence, time and expertise. That’s why we choose programmes and passions where we can make the biggest difference. Ones that are local to our sites, so our colleagues can give some of their time to the community during their working day.

Health initiatives in the West Midlands

For well over a decade, we’ve been helping students, parents, teachers and people in the West Midlands community to lead a healthier lifestyle. Through learning about healthy eating, improving their cooking skills, growing their own fruit and vegetables, and getting more active.

New food growing spaces have been funded for the Birmingham community, in 17 places across the city. And more and more students are now cooking - and using their home-grown produce from the gardens that they’ve grown themselves, too.
